AP DONATES MORE CRASH HELMETS MOTORCYCLISTS NATION

During the first phase of its 2009 CSR project- the donation of crash helmets to motorcyclists in Lagos, the Chairman/CEO, AP Plc, Mr. Femi Otedola promised that the company would spread the distribution of the helmets to other parts of the country.  In fulfillment of the pledge, AP Plc has released a timetable for the distribution of the helmets, with kick-off ceremony in three cities of the country. 

 

The kick-off programmes held in the company’s other three regions of operations: Northeast, Northwest and Southeast. For the Northeast region, the kick-off event was held in Kano on Thursday 9th July 2009, where the company’s General Manager, Treasury and Financial Operation Mrs. Omolola Segun-Idahor unveiled the distribution, with a delegation from the Kano state CSR standing committee in attendance.

 

In the Northwest region, the project was launched on Thursday 16th July 2009 in Kaduna, the Company’s General Manager Marketing; Mr. Gbadebo Adegoke chaired the ceremony. In attendance were Kaduna State Deputy Governor and some top government official. Mrs. Elizabeth Idigbe, General Manager Human Resource/ Corporate Service/ Company Secretariat led the company’s delegation to the launch of the distribution in the Southeast region, the ceremony which was held in Benin on 3rd  August  2009.

 

African Petroleum Plc, being a leading company in the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry; and also an outstanding corporate socially responsible citizen that has CSR programmes that touch the lives of the people where it matters, has constantly shown its commitment in providing sustainable and practical contributions to projects and programmes that aim to improve the lives and sustainability of the Nigerian people.

 

 During the first phase  of the this project, the company’s COO, Mr. Tunde Falasinnu said African Petroleum Plc has decided to lend a helping hand by donating crash helmets to commercial motorcyclists in the country because of the company’s firm belief that road safety is very important and is the  collective responsibility of all. He  also to appreciate the fact that the government through the Police, the FRSC and all other relevant agencies is playing its part in ensuring the safety of young men and sometimes women who ply the nation’s roads.

 

The company has pioneered other CSR projects that have touched the lives of many ordinary Nigerians; notable among these was the N50 per litre kerosene campaign which a lot of households in the country have benefited from.
