AFRICAN PETROLEUM PLC is a public quoted company; hence its shares are traded on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Our Board and Management run the company on the principles of good Corporate Governance, a clear system of accountability and transparency guided by our values and operations. The Board is accountable to shareholders for the company's activities and performance. The represent and protect the interest of our shareholders and as such allocates the task of monitoring board and management's actions through Board Committees.
The board has set up two committees, the Finance/Investment and Establishemnt Committees in line with the practice of good corporate governance. Also the Company has the Audit Committee. The Audit Committee is charged with the responsibility to monitor all reporting, accounting, financial and control aspects of management.
Any major change in the Company or Board composition is approved by the shareholders at the Annual General Meeting. Shareholder's are constantly updated on the company's activities through these formal communication channels:- the yearly annual reports and accounts, management accounts, the house journal, AP NEWS as well as through the Registrar's office.
We have an In - House Registry where share transactions, as well as other matters bothering on shareholding in African Petroleum Plc are sorted out.
AP has won the prestigious PEARL Award twice and the Nigerian Stock Exchange President's Merit Award four times.
